The meeting was opened at 8:00 p.m. For Faith Formation, Carol Roosa read the gospel for Sunday, June 6, which relates the story of when Jesus chose Matthew, the tax collector, to be an apostle. Council members felt that this gospel shows how Jesus welcomes everyone, regardless of who they are.

Roberta Michel reported that CAIN is forming a development board to help continue their work. They hope to get people who can keep CAIN’s finances in good shape.
Old Business:
Sign -- The City of Cincinnati needs more detailing regarding the proposed sign. The Green Sign Company is dealing with the city regarding this.
Parish Pastoral Council Elections -- Father Joe felt that the election went well. New members are Lisa Biedenbach, Dave Bracken, Beth Kessler and Mary Ann Thayler. Tom LeSaint was re-elected. Some people expressed the wish that candidates’ pictures be printed on the ballot. After discussion, it was agreed that candidates’ pictures will be posted in the rear of church and on the website and this would be publicized prior to the election. Father thanked the nominating committee for their work.
Lighting -- Father Joe presented an update on the lighting. The current proposal would be approximately $18,000 for just the lights. After discussion, it was agreed to get additional bids.
New Business:
Council Chairperson -- Amy Robinson was elected Council Chairperson for the coming year.
For the Good of the Parish:
Father Joe and Council members reported the following.
·There are 140 children attending St. Boniface School. There are already 120 registered for 2005-06. Sister Ann is shooting for 170 students next year! First grade is already closed.
·Father Lammeier is celebrating his 50th anniversary of ordination on Sunday, July 24, at the 12:00 Mass. A reception will follow in the school.
·Father Joe will be saying Mass at St. Joseph’s on Sunday, June 6, June 19, and July 3. Father Joe feels that he needs to get to St. Joseph’s more often to get to know the people, since he feels that he will be involved there for a while.
·There are some new guidelines for marriage. Unless both parties are Catholic, they may not have a Mass. The issue is over Communion. The non-Catholic is not allowed to receive Communion except under very unusual circumstances. Previously a baptized non-Catholic and a Catholic could have a Mass. Now it is simply not allowed.
·Father distributed a financial statement for the year to date. The parish is currently about $7,750 ahead financially.
·We made our Archbishop’s Annual Fund Drive goal and were $150 over. Father thanked everyone who helped.
·Father is still considering the memorial pavers. However, this had to be put on hold for a while because of all the other things going on.
·The parish festival is planned for October 8 and 9. We will have music on both days. A lot of help will be needed, especially people to be in charge of booths and other areas. The next festival meeting is June 7. Father asked everyone to attend if they could. Amy Robinson encouraged all Council members to participate in the festival.
·The American Boy Choir, based in Princeton, NJ, will be performing at St. Boniface on Sunday, October 30. This will cost between $8,000 and $10,000. So far we have collected $6,000 toward this event. Father hopes to have a few more sponsors and we will also sell tickets. Father feels this is good PR for St. Boniface.
·Father asked Council members if they felt there would be any interest is having direct deposit of contributions. Council members sentiment was negative on this issue.
·Al is getting ready to caulk around the clearstory windows in church. This has been put off because Al has been busy with other urgent projects, but now it’s getting done. Al is now back to work full time. Father asked that we keep him in our prayers.
·The Parish Health Ministry has had two meetings. There are seven members. They are working on a mission statement. They will be putting out a survey trying to discern what the parishioners feel would be helpful to them in order to maintain their health. The Ministry sees the function of the parish nurse as more than just visiting the sick.
·The owner of the building across the street contacted Father regarding the possibility of workers in that building using our parking lot. Father contacted Council members by mail regarding this and has relayed their feedback to the owner. As of now she has not replied.
·Father has not heard anything more from the gas station regarding their variance to build close to our property. If they could not get a variance, they were going to try for an easement. Father asked them for a set of plans or drawings that would give us an idea of what they plan to do. So far he has had no reply from them.
·A summary of the deliberations from the April 28 deanery meeting was printed in the May 15 bulletin. There are still a few loose ends. They are waiting for a response from St. Margaret Mary Deanery regarding St. Bernard and Mother of Christ.
·Bishop Moeddel is still in Good Samaritan Hospital. He is now suffering from an infection.
There will be a July meeting only if necessary. If there is no July meeting, the next meeting will be September 27. Father thanked Council members for adjusting their schedules to accommodate the time change for tonight. Father also thanked Roberta Michel, Doug Robinson, and Mike West for their service on Council.
The meeting was closed with prayer at 9:00 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Rosemary L. Welz, Secretary
