ST. BONIFACE PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL
MINUTES – September 26, 2006
The meeting was opened at 7:00 p.m. Roll call was taken and the minutes of the May 23 meeting were approved as published.
Members Present: Father Joe, Tim Banish, Dave Bracken, Missy Craig, Mike Grause, Jeanne Guenthner, Tom LeSaint, Amy Robinson, Jill Rowinski, Rosemary Welz, Henry Wesseler. Carol Roosa was also present
For Faith Formation, Father Joe conducted the ceremony for installation of Parish Pastoral Council members.
Old Business:
Oktoberfest -- Tim Banish reported that everything is ready to go for the Oktoberfest. The ladies of the First Shiloh Baptist Church will be cooking the dinner. Our grill crew will be cooking bratts, metts, and hot dogs. Workers are still needed for the Oktoberfest itself and help is needed to set up on Friday evening.
New Business:
Council Chairpersons -- Amy Robinson will serve as Chairperson and Missy Craig will serve as Vice Chairperson for the 2006-07 term.
Fundraiser -- Tim Banish reported that he had been in contact with a company that, for a flat fee, supplies gambling machines and equipment and professional staff for fundraisers. Tim thought this might be a possibility for us in the future. Some discussion followed; no decision was reached at this time.
School Financial Supplement -- Carol Roosa mentioned that, in past years, the parish had given a $30,000 supplement to the school to help with expenses. Since the school is now accepting the Ohio EdChoice vouchers, Carol hoped that the school financial need might not be as great as in past years. The Finance Committee suggested that this year assistance be given to the school on an as needed basis up to $30,000 and, at the end of the fiscal year, any money left over be given to the school. Tim Banish moved that the Finance Committee proceed with this suggestion. Dave Bracken seconded the motion. The motion was unanimously approved.
Health and Wellness Ministry -- Approximately 30 people are having their blood pressure checked each month. Several people found that they had dangerously high blood pressure and are now under doctors’ care. The group would like to purchase an Automatic Electronic Defibrillator (AED) to have in church in case of a cardiac emergency. (There is already one in the school.) Discussion was held. Carol Roosa will check with our attorney regarding our liability. Based on the attorney’s recommendation, approval was given to purchase the AED.
For the Good of the Parish:
Father Joe and Council members reported the following.
The next meeting will be November 28. The meeting was closed with prayer at 8:05 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Rosemary L. Welz, Secretary
